D'IBERVILLE, Miss. (WALA) - D’Iberville Police say they have arrested a woman who allegedly used a stun gun on a Wal Mart employee to escape during a shoplifting.

Police said Tiffany Wheeler, 29, faces charges of robbery and possession of robbery tools after her June 18 arrest. Lieutenant Terry Hines said her shoplifting charge was upgraded to robbery because she used the stun gun.

Wheeler, who is from Biloxi, Miss. was allegedly shoplifting the night of June 12 when an asset protection employee tried to stop her from leaving. Police say she used a stun gun on the asset protection associate at the D’Iberville WalMart and escaped.

D’Iberville Police Chief Wayne Payne said the media and citizens are to thank for their assistance in their investigation and, ultimately, Wheeler’s arrest.

Hines said investigators received numerous calls from the public identifying Wheeler as the suspect.

He said if Wheeler is convicted of both charges she could be facing a max sentence of 20 years in prison and up to a $20,000.00 fine. She is currently in Harrison County Adult Detention Center on a $150,000.00 bond.
