PENSACOLA, Fla (WALA) - Authorities said Michael Eugene Brewster, 54, a wanted bank robber, was arrested in Oklahoma on September 13.

They said Brewster was dubbed the "Bucket List Bandit" because of how he commits crimes.

Investigators said Brewster entered banks from Colorado to Pennsylvania and claimed he had four months to live. He then said that he had a gun and demanded money.

Authorities in Roland, Okla. caught Brewster during a routine traffic stop after he allegedly ran a stop sign. During further investigation, the FBI was called in, they pinpointed Brewster as the "Bucket List Bandit".

They also discovered the vehicle he had been driving was stolen.

Brewster's stolen vehicle had been rented by Donna Fisher, who let him borrow it.

"He said 'Is it possible for you to let me borrow the car? I've got some errands I need to run and I'll be back'. Well, he never showed back up," said Fisher.

Authorities said Brewster actually lived at the Torrey Village Apartments until he was evicted in early June. That was right before the robberies began.

Fisher said she knew Brewster for nearly a year and once thought of him as a friend.

She said she's since been dealing with the financial burdens of Brewster allegedly stealing the car, as well as the emotional ones.

"I made a mistake and now I'm paying for it. But it'll never happen again. I was helping a friend and he took advantage of it," Fisher said.

Brewster is also facing charges with the Escambia County Sheriff's Office for cashing fraudulent checks.

The Pensacola Police Department is charging Brewster with vehicle theft.

Brewster is suspected of robberies in nine states:

  • Arvada, CO
  • Flagstaff, AZ
  • Pocatello, ID
  • Roy, UT
  • Winston-Salem, NC
  • Chattanooga, TN
  • Bloomington, IL
  • Columbia, MO
  • O’Fallon, MO
  • Erie, PA
