NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WALA/WISH) - The father of a boy stabbed to death in Noblesville Wednesday night said in a court appearance Thursday, "I have no rights. I killed my poor little baby. Please kill me."
Michael Harrison, a 2-year-old, was found dead Wednesday around 5 p.m. in Noblesville. Micah Harrison was charged with murder Thursday and a not guilty plea was entered on his behalf.
Harrison attacked a utility closet with a hammer on Wednesday, saying someone was trying to kill him. A woman in the Noblesville apartment with him took the hammer from him, hid it, and told him there was no one there, according to court documents.
Later that day, the same woman found Harrison on top of his 2-year-old son, stabbing him with a kitchen knife, according to court documents. The woman, 2-year-old Michael Harrison’s grandmother, took the knife from Micah Harrison and told him he had just killed his son.
When police arrived to the apartment Wednesday night, they first encountered Micah Harrison, whose hands were blood-covered, according to the probable cause affidavit.
The young boy had wounds to his chest and head, and one of the wounds may have been inflicted using a nail puller.
On Thursday, Harrison had to be removed from an area with other inmates ahead of his hearing because he was being unruly. He was brought back after other inmates were taken away and extra officers were with him. A March 12 trial date was set and Harrison was appointed a public defender.
Micah Harrison’s two other children were with him in Noblesville, but the children’s mother stayed behind in Alabama.
Police urge anyone who may have had contact with Micah Harrison leading up to his son’s death contact them at 317-776-6340.
