Elderly couple assaulted in Coden home

CODEN, Ala. (WALA) - Mobile County Sheriff's Deputies say 89-year-old Lawrence Hutson was found dead inside his Coden home Sunday. They say Elizabeth Duggin, 89, was found with severe injuries. Authorities say it's all a result of a home invasion gone bad.

The crime happened on a Old Cedar Point Road Saturday around 9:00 p.m. Witnesses say two men wearing ski masks forced their way into the home and assaulted the victims.

Hutson died on the scene. Duggin was taken to a local hospital, where she's being treated for injuries.
