MOBILE, Ala. - Mobile police have arrested two men in connection to a Monday morning bank robbery. It happened at the First Community Bank on Cottage Hill Road.
It happened around 10:00 a.m. Monday.
Police say they a man walked into the bank, handed the teller a note saying he had a gun, and demanded money. The suspect left the bank with an unknown amount of cash. He was seen running down Oak Terrace Drive.
Officers investigating the robbery saw a man matching the suspect's description in the area of Oklahoma Drive and Old Shell Road. They set up a perimeter, and with the help of US Marshals found Saifuddin Abdul Mutadin Alston and Antonio Winston. Detectives determined they were the two men responsible for the robbery.
Alston was arrested and charged with two counts of first degree robbery. Winston was arrested and charged with one count of first degree robbery.
Investigators believe Alston is also responsible for another bank robbery that happened earlier in the month. They say in that robbery, the suspect went into the Compass Bank on Government Boulevard with his hand in his pocket, implying he was armed with a weapon.
