Former LeFlore basketball star wanted for warrants

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - A burglary investigation is underway at Spring Hill College. The school is looking for a suspect whose name has been in the news before - Kentari Nettles.

Nettles was once facing a promising future as an athlete. Now the 22-year-old faces possible prison time if he's convicted of the crimes he’s charged with, and there may soon be new charges added to the list.

At 6 feet 9 inches tall, Kentari Nettles has attracted a lot of attention during his young life. A few years ago, Nettles was capturing the spotlight as a basketball standout at Leflore High School. His skill earned him a scholarship to USA. 

Officials said he was kicked out of the program in 2010 for violating the university's rules.

Nettles is wanted by campus security at Spring Hill College, and it has nothing to do with basketball.

An email from Spring Hill's Public Safety Office states Nettles is wanted in connection with recent burglaries on campus. 

Nettles has had many other run-ins with the law including   a burglary charge In Baldwin County last December.

Daphne Police Lt. Judd Beedy talked to FOX10 News about that crime in December 2012.

"A ton of damage. It was done in the middle of night when nobody's aroun; and unfortunately, there was no surveillance cameras working at the time and the alarm systems were either non-existent or didn't work," Lt. Beedy said.

Nettles became the prime suspect when he was caught on a surveillance camera allegedly trying to sell one of the stolen computers in Mobile.

That case was sent to the grand jury.

If Nettles is found, he'll be back in court on new charges.
