Major marijuana bust made in Molino

MOLINO, Fla. (WALA) - The Escambia County Sheriff's Office said they seized eleven marijuana plants during a bust at a home in Molino, Florida.

The findings came during a Wednesday night warrant search on Wesley Circle. Because of the way the pot was being grown, deputies estimated its street value at $22,000.

“Hydroponic is the way that it’s cultivated, and it’s done in a different manner than just in soil, so it increases the THC levels in the marijuana," said sheriff's office spokesman Matt Baxter. "Because of the way it was grown, it’s a higher quality.”

In addition to the marijuana plants, lights, and different cultivating equipment was seized but Baxter said no one was arrested.  FOX10 News wanted to know why.

“Anytime that our narcotics division is involved in something, when interviewing the person if they’re cooperative they may not necessarily make an arrest at that moment," Baxter said. "Other factors are the idea that they might flee. If they don’t think that there’s a flight risk or something like that, they can pend it at a later time.”

The marijuana bust came the night prior to the sheriff's office Operation Clean Sweep, which was conducted in that area.

Deputies said they served warrants and made multiple arrests in Molino.
