MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - A man is in jail following the second shooting since July at a downtown Mobile nightclub.
Mobile Police said they were called to Club Krush around 2:30 a.m. Saturday. A 23-year-old male was in the parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds.
Police arrested 18-year-old Akil Grace for the shooting. He is charged with second-degree assault and shooting into an occupied vehicle.
The victim was taken to USA Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.
Police said they believe this shooting was the result of an ongoing dispute.
University of South Alabama officials confirm Grace is a student there. Dorm room residents recall investigators at their building Sunday.
"We looked out, and there was a swarm of cops, like the city cops. We were like, ‘What's going on?’ said a USA student Dominique Saxton
“We came back later, and they were packing their stuff up,” said Saxton.
News of the shooting has made its way around campus.
“l was a little shocked to hear someone would do that,” said USA Student Cody Tippons.
This isn’t the first time the club has been associated with a crime.
On July 6, another shooting at Club Krush left no one injured. Two men were booked into Mobile Metro Jail for that incident.
They both faced charges of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. John Garrett, III was also charged with carrying a pistol without a permit and a 16-year-old was charged with possession of an altered firearm.
Grace has since been released from metro jail. He has a court date scheduled for September 17.
