GULFPORT, Miss. (WALA) - Officials said an arrest has been made in the bludgeoning death of a man in Gulfport after a Feb. 25 fight.
Harrison County Sheriff’s Office said deputies arrested Johnny Otis Owens, III for the murder of Larry Johnson of Gulfport.
Authorities said Johnson was found unconscious, suffering from massive head trauma injuries that authorities believe he sustained in a fight with Owens on Monday. Owens was taken into custody on the scene.
Around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, authorities said Johnson was pronounced dead, and Owens’s charges were upgraded to murder. He was booked into the Harrison County Adult Detention Facility with his bond set at $1 million.
