MOBILE, Alabama (WALA) - The mother of a capital murder suspect is sitting behind bars in Mobile Metro Jail, the same establishment her son is currently in. Felicia Lee is Michael Lee's mother. Michael is a suspect in the shooting death of Kyser Miree.
Felicia, 40, is charged with two counts of intimidating a witness in her son's murder case.
Michael was named the trigger man in the murder of Miree. Miree was gunned down in his own home on April 16.
Police said in open court Lee and three others, Jamal Lang, Bo Taylor and Earnest Wiggins, shoved their way inside Miree's midtown home and shot him.
Jill Phillips, Mobile County assistant district attorney, said Felicia Lee is charged with two counts of intimidating a witness.
"There were two separate incidents. One happened right after the preliminary hearing on Wednesday. The incidents were reported to the Mobile Police Department. We take any allegation seriously, and we will not tolerate," said Phillips.
Before Wednesday's preliminary hearing could even begin, there was some concern over disputes between some members of the defense and witnesses.
Court police searched everyone who wanted to sit in Judge McMaken's courtroom for the preliminary hearing. Extra security guards stood all around the courtroom, and the judge warned people to behave.
Authorities won't say who Felicia Lee is accused of intimidating or where the second incident happened. Only that this type of behavior is taken very seriously, especially in a capital murder case.
In documents obtained by Fox Ten News, the witness claims Lee said "I'm going to kill you." and "I'm coming to shoot your house up."
Felicia Lee's bond hearing is scheduled for Monday, August 23.
