LOXLEY, Ala. - Loxley police arrested a Mississippi Senator earlier this week. Investigators say Senator Carl Gordon was arrested for an unpaid speeding ticket from 1997 in Robertsdale.
Officers say the initial stop was for careless driving while traveling on I-10 eastbound. Reports show he was speeding, driving too close, and changing lanes erratically.
When the arresting officer ran his license plate, the scan showed there was a signed warrant because of the 12-year-old speeding ticket.
Gordon was transported to Robertsdale Police where he eventually paid all fines from the 1997 incident. Gordon must still pay for the most recent offense in Loxley.
State Senator Gordon released the following statement:
"I was in a sports car, and I think that is why they stopped me. As far as the ticket in Robertsdale goes, I paid the ticket from August 1997 and now everything is cleared up."
