MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - On Monday, September 3, 2012 around 12:30 p.m., Mobile police said they responded to Azalea Road for a report of 'one down.'
Upon arrival, officers said they found 23- year-old Cynthia McCoy suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
“She's a good friend. She was a sweet person,” said Arilyn Quincy, who lives in the complex. “She was a real friend.”
While police are keeping a tight lip, neighborhood friends said, to make matters worse, two of McCoy’s infants were inside the home at the time.
Police on scene confirmed the children were taken into a nearby ambulance, unharmed.
“I went to go check and see how the baby is doing,” said Quincy, “and one of the police told me the baby was ok.”
Residents said a close friend found the gruesome scene after entering the residence to checkup on McCoy.
Homicide detectives will continue to investigate. If anyone has information about this incident, please call the Mobile Police Department at 208-7211, Crime Stoppers at 208-7000, or text to CRIMES (274637) and include the keyword CRIME 411.
