Murder suspect barricaded self, woman inside house fired on officers

CHUNCHULA, Ala. (WALA) - Saturday, Mobile police said they arrested a suspect suspected in a murder at a fast food restaurant on Dauphin Street in December.

Police said they arrested 34-year-old Grady McClendon for the Dec. 2012 murder of Jamal Little.

Authorities said McClendon had barricaded himself and a woman inside his home on Sweetwater Road in Chunchula for about three hours, then fired shots at responding tactical units.

Authorities said they were able to arrest McClendon without any injury to him, officers or the female victim.

MPD said he is charged with murder and person forbidden to possess a firearm.

Shortly after midnight On Dec. 2, police responded to the Taco Bell on Dauphin Street for a report of one shot. They found Little inside his car with gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead on the scene.
