MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Mobile police detectives were out Tuesday still piecing together a shootout that happened Monday night in a Mobile parking lot.

"Around 11:20 or so, we got a call at two emergency rooms. One at USA Medical Center and one at USA Children's and Women's in reference to one shot in both emergency rooms," said Cpl. Chris Levy.

Once police started investigating, they found out the two men in the emergency rooms, allegedly shot each other. Police said it was over a drug deal. Police said Andre Russell was the first to shoot.

"While in that transaction, the suspect, Mr. Russell produced a handgun, robbed our victim and took his items," said Levy.

Police said Russell then shot the victim in his chest, but Russell didn't get far before the victim retaliated.

"The victim actually returned fire and got a shot off and hit Mr. Russell in the jaw prior to him leaving," Levy said.

The victim is receiving treatment but is expected to be ok. Russell was treated and released, and arrested.

Russell is charged with robbery first degree and assault second degree.
