MPD: man held in hotel room, forced to withdraw from account

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Three suspects who allegedly kept a man against his will and forced him to withdraw money from his bank account over four days were arrested on Saturday.

Police said Patrick Edwards, DeWayne Andry and Exiomara Goins took the victim he was “coaxed by (Goins) into going to the Talor Motel” across the street from the Greyhound Bus station on Government Blvd.

That was on Feb. 19. The MPD said the victim was held there against his will for several days; the suspects forced him to use his debit card several times at ATM machines across the area.

On Feb. 23, officials said Edwards and Andry took the victim to the Wells Fargo on Highway 90, to get him to attempt to withdraw $500 from his account, but it was overdrawn.

Police said officers were called to the bank, and all the suspects were arrested on the scene.

All three suspects are charged with first-degree unlawful imprisonment. Edwards is also charged with five counts of fraudulent use of a credit card.
