NICEVILLE, Fla. (WALA) - Okaloosa County deputies responded Friday night, January 18 to a crime unlike any folks who live along 26 th Street have heard of.

Deputies said Buddy Fuller, 56, came after his neighbor Bruce Woolley, 27, with a machete.

Authorities said Woolley told deputies he went over to Fuller’s house, where they got into an argument.

Investigators said Fuller picked up a machete and began swinging it at Woolley, hitting him and severely cutting his left wrist.

John Leonard has worked in the area for years.

"It’s just totally unbelievable. I can’t believe something like that would go on in this neighborhood. It’s always been quiet," said Leonard.

Gracie Shell has lived on the street for more than 70 years.

"I just haven’t heard of anything like that around here. So it was a shock," Shell said.

Deputies said alcohol played a part in the incident as both men had been drinking.

Woolley was sent to Twin Cities hospital in Niceville. Twin Cities Hospital would not release the victim's condition.

Authorities said Fuller changed his story multiple times and resisted arrest. Deputies have charged Fuller with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest. He's being held in Okaloosa County jail under a $5,500 bond.
