OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WALA) - James F. Campbell, a current Okaloosa County Commissioner, was booked into the Okaloosa County Jail on Monday on charges of perjury and official misconduct.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement Pensacola Regional Operations Center arrested Campell, 64, of Niceville, Fla., for four counts of official misconduct and four counts of perjury.

The FDLE began the investigation in May 2012, after receiving information that Campbell was being paid to recruit sponsors for a local festival and then not disclosing that income on State of Florida Commission on Ethics forms.

Florida State Statutes require elected officials to annually report any sources of income in excess of $1,000 to the Florida Commission on Ethics.

Campbell is alleged to have falsified his income on his reports.

The four-month-long investigation was conducted by the FDLE and the Office of the State Attorney at the request of the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.
