NAVARRE, Fla. (WALA) - Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Deputies said they captured one of three suspects who escaped from the Lauderdale County jail in Alabama after he allegedly tried to burglarize a church.
Wesley Lee Gibson, 27, told police he "didn't have anywhere to go" when they captured him near First Baptist Church of Navarre early Tuesday morning. The other two suspects, Ricky Lawson and Robert Brown, are both still at large, and deputies said they may still be in the area.
Lawson is a white male, 28, who police said is 6'4" and 170 pounds. Brown, 20, is also a white male, who is 5'6" and 164 pounds.
Deputies heard an alarm and responded to the church. When they arrived, they found a broken window with blood inside. A K-9 unit found Gibson about 100 yards away from the building and deputies arrested him without incident.
Gibson was charged with burglary, criminal mischief and theft.
The SRCSO said the other two suspects whereabouts are unknown, but they are not ruling out that they may also be in Santa Rosa County, or neighboring counties.
