EIGHT MILE, Ala. (WALA) - An Eight Mile man is behind bars facing seven charges, all for breaking and entering into a vehicle.

Police say Trenton Eaton's charged stems from an incident at the Walmart parking lot on the Beltline, and evidence they found at his house.

Cpl. Chris Levy with Mobile police said on Tuesday, September 4, Eaton was trying to steal a car battery from a Ford Taurus.

"It was around 9:45 in the morning and two officers saw him in the Walmart parking lot. They say Eaton looked like he was removing a battery from a Ford Taurus," said Cpl. Levy. "They went over to check it out and when he saw them, he ran."

Police said Eaton got away, but officers caught up to him at a house on Woodland Court in Eight Mile. That's where they say they found evidence of six other car burglaries.

FOX10 News found a man who said he is Eaton's father at a home in Eight Mile.

The man said he has talked to his son since he was arrested. He believes drugs are a part of his son’s problem.

Eaton's Mobile Metro Jail record shows he has been arrested 13 times since 2004 - five of those arrests are for possession of marijuana.
