MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - A driver led Mobile police on a chase through downtown Mobile Saturday afternoon after authorities tried to pull the suspect over for playing loud music.

The chase lasted about 10 minutes and ended at Lafayette St. and St. Stephen’s Rd. Police said they originally tried to pull the driver over at Simington Dr. and Brazier Dr.

He refused to stop, said Cpl. Chris Levy with the Mobile Police Department. Police said a patrol car was damaged in the commotion.

The vehicle actually hit Samuel Kiser’s fence.

Kiser said he was oblivious to the fact that his property had become an accident scene. He received a call from his neighbor, who told him about the scene outside his home. He said he told her he didn’t think anything was going on.

“She said, ‘Well, you better check your hearing aid,’” Kiser said. “So, I got up and I looked out the window and I saw all these police cars in front of my house, and there was an accident.”

He said the suspect’s car jumped the curb and mowed down his fence. Kiser said it could have been worse: the car could have been inside his house.

“I’m proud of my fence,” he said. "It stopped him."

The suspect, who was originally being pulled over for a noise violation now faces charges of reckless endangerment, property damage and attempting to elude.
