ATMORE, Ala. (WALA) - Atmore Police arrested two people in connection to a deadly shooting Tuesday, June 26.
A person walked into the police department around 4:48 a.m. on Tuesday, and told the dispatcher a person was lying on the ground in the parking lot at the intersection of North Second Avenue and Ridgley Street.
Officers arrived and found Kendrick Lamon Dortch lying on the ground. Paramedics pronounced the 38-year-old from Atmore dead from a gunshot wound to the back.
Evidence recovered led investigators to conclude Dortch was a victim of a random act of robbery and did not know his assailants.
De-Anthony Dailey and Damien Jones were both arrested for the crime.
Dailey is 16 and an adjudicated adult. He is charged with capital murder, robbery first and two counts of burglary of a vehicle related to other cases.
Jones is charged with robbery first and two counts of burglary of a vehicle related to other cases.
Both are currently being held at the Escambia County Detention center in Brewton, Alabama.
