MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - The shooting death of a woman on Racine Ave. has left some residents of the neighborhood too afraid to talk, but other say they hope the killers are caught.
Forty-year-old Wendy Fisher was shot in front of a neighbor's house after witnesses say she yelled at the driver of a car to slow down. Witnesses said the car with three or four males inside turned around and someone in the car shot Fisher.
Police said the subjects, three or four black males driving a dark-colored sedan, were engaged in an altercation with Fisher before the shooting.
One neighbor who wished to remain anonymous said she applied pressure to the wound to try to stop the bleeding.
James Gorum was inside his house when he heard three shots. When he went outside his house, he saw his neighbor, Fisher, lying in the street across from her home.
Marie Gorum said speeders are common on the street which runs between Moffet Road and Overlook Road. But, she said the neighborhood is normally quiet.
Mobile Police are investigating and ask anyone with information about the incident to call them at 208-7211, Crime Stoppers at 208-7000 or text to CRIMES (274637) and include the keyword CRIME 411.
