Chickasaw resident robbed in home invasion

CHICKASAW, Ala. (WALA) - The Chickasaw Police Department is investigating a home invasion robbery of an elderly woman in the Woodlore subdivision.

Investigators said three suspects knocked and rang the doorbell at the 71-year-old victim’s home Friday night.

“It was just the most unbelievable thing I’ve ever been through. I just couldn’t believe it was really happening,” said the woman who asked not to be identified.

The woman was home, but didn’t answer the door because she was suspicious, authorities said.

According to officials, the suspects kicked in front door.

“They found a cell phone, which was found plugged into the wall. They took that, and they asked her for her car keys. They took her keys and took her vehicle which was under the carport, and they left her residence,” said Chickasaw Police Department Sgt. Tommy McDuffie,

They said the suspects stole the woman’s 1987 Toyota silver Cressida out of her carport. The Cressida is described to have a loud muffler and a dent in the rear bumper.

"It’s not the finest car in the world, but it's the only transportation I have.  So I really need it. I wish they'd find it,” said the woman.

Although the victim said she was not physically harmed, she had an encounter with one of the robbers.

“The short one grabbed my arm and put a gun to my head and said, ‘Don’t make me shoot you. Get down,’ she said.
