SARALAND, Ala. - Saraland Police are still looking into the death of a man found in his home on Wednesday.
Police discovered the body of 57-year-old Anthony G. Embley after being called by some of his co-workers. Saraland Police Chief Kevin Anderson said they had gone to his house looking for him after he didn't show up for work.
"At first they were called for a welfare check by some co-workers. They arrived on scene, looked around, knocked on the door. They didn’t get an answer. They looked through the windows. They thought they saw him lying on the floor," explained Anderson.
Anderson said that because of the circumstances surrounding Embley's death, it is being investigated as a homicide. While he's not releasing any of those details, he did say that Embley's car had been taken.
"There was a vehicle found. His vehicle was located in Mobile and that's being processed for evidence also," he added.
An autopsy was performed on Thursday morning, but the cause of death is also not being released yet.
Embley has a sister that lives in Mobile. FOX10 spoke with her on the phone Thursday. She said that he joined the Army at age 18, and was a life-long military man with five children. He was deployed to Iraq in 2007 and his family was thankful that he returned home safely. His sister said that she never thought his life would end like this.
Anthony Embley served as a mechanic in the Army and National Guard for 31 years.
