PENSACOLA, Fla. - Three students at Pine Forest High school were hauled off in handcuffs Thursday morning, after an argument escalated.

School officials say the argument started on a school bus while on the way to school Thursday morning. Once the students got to school, it started to get out of hand.

"It led on to the bus ramp and continued with some pushing and shoving, and it was just a verbal spat between some students this morning, as they came on to campus in the school bus," school principal Frank Murphy said.

As the argument continued, a crowd of students gathered around. That's when the school resource officer called in other officers to help break things up.

During the scuffle, a school official was pushed. That's when the two girls and one male student were arrested. They were all charged with battery on a school official, which is a felony.

Murphy said that the three could also face disciplinary actions from the school system.

"Students that cause a disruption of this nature could face anything from a suspension, to an expulsion, from school," explained Murphy.

Murphy said the school sent out an automated alert to parents, letting them know that there had been an incident. He said that while unfortunate, it did not affect the daily curriculum at school and no one needed medical attention.

The principal added that the argument was neither gang nor school related, but of a personal nature. They did keep extra resource officers on hand throughout the day to make their presence known.
