PRICHARD, Ala. (WALA) - Cynthia Cook, the mother of the woman who was killed in a shooting in Alabama Village, said her 4-year-old grandson thinks his mother will soon come home from the hospital.

Instead, 24-year-old Detoria Cook will be buried next Saturday morning.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. at True World Baptist Church in Prichard, the service will take place at 11 on Sept. 22. Police say the young mother was an innocent bystander caught in the shootout on Tuesday, when three men got out of a car on Hale Drive armed with semi-automatic weapons.

Roman Harris, the third suspect wanted in connection with Tuesday's shooting, was arrested Sunday evening. Braxton Thomas was arrested on Friday and Dennis Hayward was arrested Saturday. They all face charges of attempted murder, as well as murder for the death of Detoria Cook.

"They called somebody at my mama's house and said my baby just got killed… I got around there my baby laying on the ground bleeding from the back of her head where my baby got hit three times," Cook said.

Two others were also hit by gunfire in the Prichard community on Tuesday around 8 p.m ; they will survive.

Last week, residents in the Alabama Village community held a vigil to call for a cease-fire. Bethelyn Crawley's nephew was one of the shooting victims, but she said he isn’t the only one in she knows who has been involved in violence in the area.

"I got four in prison for murdering someone in the Village and some in the hospital for somebody shooting them in the village, it is time for everybody to stop and come together," Crawley said.

While stopping the violence in her neighborhood is important to her, Cynthia Cook's priority was the capture of the men responsible for the death of her daughter.

"My child didn't have to leave out of here like that, and I just want justice for my child, that's all I want," she said.

Now, with Harris, Hayward and Thomas behind bars, her healing process can begin.
