CHUNCHULA, Ala. (WALA) - Mobile County Sherriff Deputies said a fight over drugs put three people behind bars and one in the hospital.
The Mobile County Sheriff's Office said they went to a home in Chunchula on Saturday to respond to shooting, but also stumbled upon meth lab.
"It appears that the argument between the individuals was over a drug transaction,” said Mahoney.
The incident happened on Cleborne Road. Just after noon, deputies were in and out of the home and law enforcement vehicles lined the street. Sgt. Joe Mahoney says it all started with that argument.
Deputies say Hiram Harris pulled out a gun and pointed it at Byron Broughtus. Broughtus grabbed the gun just in time.
"Fortunately, the round only grazed his head causing trauma to the skin, and he was bleeding profusely," said Mahoney.
When deputies arrived on scene, they found it was more than just a shooting.
"We came out for the shooting and found out there was a meth lab,” said Mahoney.
Broughtus was taken to the hospital and Harris was taken to jail. Samantha Harris and Derek Loughner were also arrested. All are facing several drug charges.
Broughtus's injury is not life-threatening and as of right now, he is not charged with anything. Authorities said that could change when he is released.
