CANTONMENT, Fla. - A Cantonment man says he's lucky to be alive. Someone shot up his pick-up truck in a subdivision off Highway 97.

John Bryant still had a bandage under his left eye Sunday. He said he got the injury when someone fired shotgun pellets at his pickup truck Friday night.

"I heard a boom. I thought I hit the curve. I kind of slowed down and another shot, boom. I took off and came down the driveway, pulled up, and called 911," Bryant said.

Bryant was in the truck alone after leaving a local bar. He said it happened just before midnight.

"I had a sliver of glass and a pellet in my eye," he said.

The first shot was fired seconds after he turned into the subdivision, shattering the drivers' side window. According to Bryant the shooter was probably only 30 feet away. He estimates the damage to his truck will be more than $6,000.

The drivers door panel and front fender are riddled with pellet shots. The glass is gone. Another shot hit the rear tail light and back fence. Byrant is just glad it wasn't much worse.

"It's a mess. They shot the whole driver side of my truck all up," he said.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
