Three teens face three counts each of first-degree robbery

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Mobile police arrested three teenagers on three charges each of first-degree robbery Saturday.

The Mobile Police Department said Darrius Lewis, 18, Jarod Bush, 19 and Justin Hollinger, 17, likely set out with a plan to find women, outside, with their purses.

Police said each time a different teen approached a woman with a handgun and demanded their purse.

"One of them was exiting the vehicle. The other two, one of them was in the driveway the other one was just in the front yard," said the Mobile Police Department Spokesman Cpl. Chris Levy.

Levy said this was an isolated incident.

"I think that was their plan. I don't think that we can realistically say that all women with purses are realistically going to get robbed," said Cpl. Levy.

Levy said all three victims called the police immediately after the robberies.

"The first one was at say 6:00 (p.m.) The other two ones at 7:00 (p.m), 7:15 (p.m), and they were arrested at 7:30 (p.m.)," said Levy.

Police said the victims’ observations helped them make a quick arrest.

Bush has been released on $75,000 bond but both Hollinger and Lewis are still in Mobile Metro Jail.
