MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - In November 2011, a 30-year-old a single father was found shot and killed inside his own truck right after he got off work.

Mobile police are still working to solve the murder of Kevin Manley but, in the time since, his family has not heard of any leads and has received no closure.

"Football season's here again and that brings back memories,” said Angela Cydrus.

Watching football is a Sunday tradition in the Cydrus household; one that's communal and, yet, individualized.

"[My son’s] favorite teams [were] the Florida Gators and Dallas Cowboys," said Cydrus, speaking of Kevin Manley, who was shot on Nov. 16, 2011.

This year, she said, football season just isn’t the same. The night Manley was killed in a shooting on Steiner Street changed everything.

Cydrus said, "You always think that you would go before you lose any of your kids."

Cydrus said her son had just gotten off of work from his plumbing job that Wednesday night.

Cydrus said, "They said he was shot multiple times. We're not even sure how many times, exactly."

The case is still open, and even a $5,000 reward brought no leads. Manley's family just wants someone, anyone, to provide answers.

Marc Manley, Kevin’s brother said, "It will never bring him back. So that's the hard part. I just wish they could catch him."

Kevin may be gone, but his 8-year-old son Trevor serves as a walking memorial of his father.

"He can make this little face and it reminds me of his daddy,” said Cydrus.

Trevor no longer has a dad to play football with. When asked what he would say to his father if given a chance, Trevor silently placed his head on the table. A wordless, yet powerful, message.

This family will never forget about Kevin Manley's murder and they don't want the community to forget either.
