TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Nearly four of every five Floridians oppose having college tuition raised by 15 percent a year.
A new poll out Wednesday showed that 78 percent did not agree with a decision by state officials that authorized the state's public universities to increase tuition by up to 15 percent annually.
Only 19 percent of the 1,001 Floridians surveyed by Quinnipiac (Conn.) University between Feb. 11-16 said they thought such an increase was OK.
Republicans and Democrats alike were strongly opposed to the big tuition increase.
