Man gets 12 years for fatal bar fight

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — A Tampa Bay area man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for fatally shooting another man during a fight.

A Hillsborough County judge sentenced 35-year-old Jimmy Lee Cruz on Friday. Cruz was convicted of manslaughter as part of a plea deal. The Tampa Bay Times (http://bit.ly/14cMzk2 ) reports that he was initially charged with second-degree murder.

Authorities say Cruz shot 28-year-old Walter Revear during a fight outside the Interstate Lounge in May 2011.
