DADE CITY, Fla. (AP) — A Tampa Bay area man has been sentenced to six years in prison for a fatal shooting after a party.
As part of a deal with Pasco County prosecutors, 23-year-old Douglas Gabriel Cevallos Jr. pleaded guilty Wednesday to manslaughter.
Authorities say several teens were involved in a fight following a party in June 2009. At some point, Cevallos picked up a .40-caliber handgun that fell from the pocket of someone involved in the fight. He began waving the gun around and shot 17-year-old Dustin Sean White.
According to the Tampa Bay Times (http://bit.ly/135DTv0), investigators don't believe Cevallos intended to kill White.
