TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WALA) - Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation commission officials say the number of people dead in boating accidents is down in the area.

FWC officials say 28 people have died in boating accidents so far in the state.

They said the number is on pace to be lower than the 67 people who died in marine vessel accidents in Florida last year.

Statistics show that the leading cause of death in boating accidents is drowning instead of impact from a crash.
