PAXTON, Fla. (WALA) - One man is dead after a vehicle backed into his at a Paxton gas station.

Florida Highway Patrol said a Chevy pickup truck backed into the front of Christopher Laird’s truck at the Tom Thumb Gas station on Highway 331.

The highway patrol’s report says the driver of the truck saw Laird slump over the steering wheel before his vehicle reversed quickly. A witness pulled Laird, 39, out of the vehicle and helped him to the ground until EMS arrived.

He was transported to Florala Memorial Hospital where he later died. The cause of his death are still under investigation.

Laird’s three passengers, including two children, were not injured.
