GULF SHORES, Alabama (WALA) - eBay released the following statement in response to the sale of Jimmy Buffett and Friends tickets on their site:

"While eBay in many cases allows the listing of event tickets that are initially distributed for free, we did not feel that the resale of free tickets to the Gulf Coast benefit concert was appropriate or consistent with the charitable spirit of the event. We will not allow the listing of these tickets on eBay or StubHub and will remove any existing listings."

In the blink of an eye, free Jimmy Buffett tickets for a concert to benefit the Gulf Coast oil spill dilemma were gone.

The tickets went on sale on-line and on location at 10 a.m.

It took less that 10 minutes for the tickets to disappear from Ticketmaster.com. It also didn't take long for local Ticketmaster outlets to unload their share.

However, folks across the Gulf Coast are seeing red. Many feel they did not get a fleeting chance to acquire tickets to the benefit concert, which will also feature Kenny Chesney, the Zac Brown Band, and the list goes on.

Shortly after posting that the tickets were gone on FOX10's Facebook page, several viewers vented their frustrations.

Charey Gilpin commented: "grrrrrrrr I wanted tickets."

Laura Chancey Lane added: "Many of us southerners who waited for hours online only to miss out on tickets are extremely pissed...."

Dannielle O'Bryant said, "more like gone in 10 seconds!"

On Twitter, markjholmes remarked: "35,000 tickets. Beat that,Bruce Springsteen. RT @FOX10News Jimmy Buffett Tickets sold out in less than ten minutes."

Most shocking was the fact that not even 10 minutes after the tickets sold out, they began popping up all over eBay and Cragslist for sale.

Amanda Dean Welsh said on Facebook, "How can no locals get tickets for a concert that is to benefit them. More importantly, why are people selling them on eBay for $300?!?!?"

Folks selling tickets on eBay are from across the country: Lincolnshire, Ill.; Chicago, Ill.; Spring Valley, N.Y.; Beverly, New Jersey; Houston, Texas; Columbia, Md.; Norman, Okla.; Grayslake, Ill.; Highland, Ind.; Coral Springs, Fla., just to name a fraction.

Prices are ranging from $102 all the way to $610, and are continuing to climb.

FOX10 put in a call to eBay as well as e-mailed the company. We are waiting for a response from them.

The tickets remain available on eBay. But on Craigslist, any advertisement selling the tickets has been flagged for removal.

The concert is slated for Thursday, July 1. Gates will open at 3 p.m., and the concert will begin at 5 p.m. CMT will air part of the concert live, starting at 7 p.m.
