PANAMA CITY, Fla. (AP) - First lady Michelle Obama has arrived in the Florida Panhandle to meet with business and tourism leaders to discuss how the Gulf oil spill has harmed them.
Obama's plane landed Monday at the new Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport in Panama City. The airport opened in May just as the number of tourists to the Gulf coast began dropping due to the spill.
She was being taken to meet with Carol Browner, who is the president's adviser on climate change, and about a dozen local business leaders.
