MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Matt Minyard said he is on a mission to get to Mobile. He said he wants to greet his wife Bethany when she gets off the broken down cruise ship being towed to Mobile.

Minyard is on a long journey from Fate, Texas to Mobile.

"I just want to get her out of there," said Minyard.

Bethany is one of the 3,000 plus passengers stuck on the Carnival Triumph. Minyard said communication has been spotty. The last time he spoke to Bethany was Monday.

"They have basically made what she called a hobo tent on deck," said Minyard.

This is Bethany’s first cruise and Minyard said most likely her last.

"She’s been pooping in a bag. It’s getting nasty," said Minyard.

Passengers were given options to get back to Galveston but Minyard chose to get his wife in person.

"Carnival’s logistical specialty is on the water, and we see how that worked out for them," said Minyard. "I'm not letting Carnival do any more planning.”

Minyard received a text from his wife early Wednesday, just saying they were headed to Mobile.

He already has plans for when she steps off the ship.

"I just want to get her out of there and get her a shower and a good meal,” said Minyard.
