MOBILE, Alabama (WALA) - It's been almost two weeks since 23-year-old Kyser Miree was shot inside his midtown home. Mobile Police have released little about the case and there have been no arrests. Kyser's father came back to Mobile Tuesday for the first time since his son's death. He spoke with FOX10's Chasity Byrd.

Friday will mark two weeks since Ben Miree got the news that forever changed his life.

"The darkest of days are not as dark. Everybody is doing as well as I think they could," Miree said.

Kyser Miree, Ben's son, died from a gunshot wound to the head. He was found inside the home where he lived on Macy Place in midtown Mobile. Ben Miree said he wanted to come back to take care of a couple of things.

"One was to meet those who are heading the investigation and to thank them for what they are doing. I really have a lot of confidence that they are putting full press on this and are doing all they can do. I'm supportive because they are trying to be successful. The other thing was to get some of Kyser's things, some of his personal possessions, and take them back home," Miree said.

Miree said he knows nothing can bring Kyser back, but solving this case would bring some peace to his family.

District Attorney John Tyson Jr. said the case is still being intensely investigated by police and said the public should not expect many details right now.

"We've not released any new information and probably not going to release any until the case is solved and arrests are made," Tyson said.

Tyson did say Ben Miree told him it was quote a great comfort knowing the people working on his son's death and knowing how hard they are working.
