MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. - The Mobile County Health Department will be offering free prostate cancer screenings July 6th - July 31.
According to health officer, Dr. Bert Eichold, prostate cancer is the number two cause of cancer death in men, but is one of the most treatable if caught in the early stages.
“In fact, the 10-year survival rate for prostate cancer is 93 percent if it is detected and treated early,” he says.
Eichold also says that African-American men have a 70 percent higher rate of prostate cancer than Caucasian men, and die from prostate cancer more often than other men.
