Inmate escapes from Decatur Facility

DECATUR, Ala. - UPDATE: Escaped inmate Josh Hamer has been recaptured in Ardmore, Tennessee. He refuses to sign a waiver to return to Alabama. He is currently in the custody of the Giles County (Tennessee) Sheriff's Dept.

10:30 a.m. Tuesday Prison officials say a prisoner escaped from the Decatur Community Based Facility early Tuesday.

The inmate, Joshua Hamer, was not in his assigned bunk when officials did a master bed count at 3:20am. Hamer was determined to be missing at 3:50am.

An immediate search of he area was conducted. All local law enforcement authorities were notified and Hamer was placed on escape.

Hamer is a white man, 6"1', 160lbs. He has brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing free world clothes. He has tattoos on both arms and hands.
