ROBERTSDALE, Ala. - It may have been a regular Saturday and a regular dance practice, however the instructor is something special. "This is something he loves. He lives for it everyday," said Mandy Moore.
Moore is the owner of "Slippers and Taps" School of Dance where Calvin Turner teaches. That is when he is not on TV. "I'm getting ready to go to Vegas week where we will see where my fate lies. I've been blessed to get this far and I hope to keep going," said Calvin Turner smiling.
Turner was selected to participate on the dance reality show, "So You Think You Can Dance". Dancers from all over the country are chosen to compete and America votes who the best dancer is. To Moore and to Turner's students they already have a winner.
"What sets him apart is not just mechanical, it's not just technique, it's the inner love for it and the emotion he has," Moore said of her employee.
Moore believes Turner deserves the shot he is getting now. Turner says it's been a journey to get to where he is now. "This is my life. I have to dance it is all I know," Turner said.
Vegas call backs for, "So You Think You Can Dance" begin this week. You can catch Turner and the rest of the contestants Wednesdays at 7pm right here on Fox Ten.
