GRAVINE ISLAND, Ala. (WALA) - There has not been much change in Summer Moody's condition since she was brought to USA Medical Center Sunday.

The teenager was shot during the early morning hours Sunday on an isolated Island in Baldwin County.

"All the circumstances that could go bad, went bad," Sheriff Huey ‘Hoss” Mack said.

That's how the sheriff described the situation during a news conference in Foley Monday afternoon.

While investigators try to determine if the teenager will be charged with a crime, the sheriff said his immediate concern is her recovery.

"Our prayers and concern are with her right now,

She's still in critical condition in the hospital," he said.

Kimberly Boatwright spoke to Summer's best friend at the hospital Sunday.

"She told Summer to squeeze her hand if she could hear her and if she knew that she was there. She did; she (Summer) squeezed (her hand) multiple times," Boatwright said.

Summer is a former student at Baldwin County High School in Bay Minette. School officials said she finished December 6 after completing all the requirements for graduation early.

Baldwin County School System Spokesperson Terry Wilhite said it is exceptional for a student to graduate early.

Moody is eligible to participate in the graduate ceremony which is scheduled for the end of this school year, but the focus now is her recovery.
