BAYOU LA BATRE, Ala. (WALA) - Tuesday morning more than 100 families in Bayou la Batre received toys donated to them through the Angel Tree program.
The need has been especially drastic after a big donor pulled out this year.
On Tuesday, more than 100 families in Bayou la Batre received toys donated to them through the Angel Tree program.
The Salvation Army's Angel Tree giveaway will be going on throughout the day. The need for help in the Bayou increased this year after a natural disaster affected a big donor.
Since Hurricane Katrina, New York Firefighters have been coming down to the Bayou every year loaded down with toys.
This year though, those firefighters have to look after their own following the devastation created by Hurricane Sandy. Without their toys, the Salvation Army has had to step up efforts to meet the need.
