BAY MINETTE, Ala. (WALA) - Investigators said a Bay Minette murder investigation is back on track now that the suspect is back in the Baldwin County Jail.

Marcus Williams was booked into the Baldwin County Jail Friday in connection with a murder that happened at his home in Bay Minette in March 2012.

"I heard something - pow, pow.  I said ‘Good God.’ And then the plumber said, ‘Man, somebody shooting in the neighborhood,’" neighbor Jessie Watson said.

Watson was in his backyard when he heard gunshots. He said he didn't know the victim, Charlie Robinson, Jr., but he's known the suspect all his life.

"It just was a hurtin' thing for me, by me knowing him every since he was a little boy," Watson said.

Williams was on probation for another crime when police say he shot and killed Robinson in the backyard of his family home on Grove Street.

The arrest sent Williams back to prison.

"After he was arrested on the murder charge his parole was violated, therefore they revoked his parole and sent him back to prison. He served his prison time, and of course we had the hold on him for the murder charge and they brought him back here to the Baldwin county corrections and arrested him on the 12th of October," Detective Brent Bixenman said.

Even though Williams has served his time for the other crime, he won't be getting out of jail any time soon. That's because he has a $1 million bond on the murder charge.

Bixenman said the high bond is likely due to Williams' numerous past arrests for drugs and robbery.

'Next for him, I believe the case was bound over to a grand jury back in may and I believe it's going to be set for a jury trial," Bixenman said.

No trial date has been set for the murder charge.
