BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WALA) - Baldwin county EMA director, Mitchell Sims, met with the county chairman, department heads, and EMA staff this afternoon to discuss preparations in the wake of Tropical Storm Isaac.
"As the weekend progresses, we'll be watching this. If necessary, we'll be working with the National Weather Service. And if need be, we'll call all our elected officials together,r and we'll present them with the facts," said Sims.
While the storm's exact path remains unknown, Sims said he wanted to meet with county leaders to make sure everyone is prepared.
"For us it means planning 365 days a year. That's when you have a good plan in place. We've planned on it. (We’ve) trained on it, and we take it and get ready for it," he said.
In the meeting, which was held at the Baldwin county EMA office, officials discussed Isaac's projected paths and what responsibilities each department will have, should the storm take aim at the area.
He says county leaders will likely meet again this weekend to review Isaac's potential threat to the area and make final preparations.
A second meeting is expected to be held this Sunday, should the storm's path lead to our area.
