BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WALA) - Baldwin County Commissioner Tucker Dorsey, like many, is excited about the possibility of economic growth in the area.

"We're persistent here. We work hard. We want to create jobs for south Alabama, and it just couldn't be better news," said Dorsey.

Dorsey said he sees the potential for Baldwin County if Airbus comes to Mobile. He said there are several companies that could get a piece of the action including Segers Aero Corporation, Continental Motors, and the Goodrich plant in Foley.

"There are companies that are here, and we are hoping we can also do well in attracting the first and second tier suppliers for the manufacturing at Brookley," Dorsey said.

Dorsey is also hoping the Mega Site, 3,000 acres of prime property in Baldwin County, would be considered if Airbus comes.

"The Mega Site could be a key component in the assembly and manufacturing facility. We want to meet these folks to talk to them," Dorsey said.

Dorsey said he hasn't gotten any official word about Airbus, but hopes everything being said is true.

Dorsey is traveling to the London Air Show in July even though the county commission did not approve an increased travel budget for the trip. Dorsey said it is important to meet with these industries face to face to get the word about Baldwin County out.
