SUMMERDALE, Ala. (WALA) - Supporters held a fundraiser in Summerdale, Ala. on Saturday for the family of a Baldwin County Sheriff's Deputy killed in the line of duty.
The Deputy Scott Ward benefit was held on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Marlow Dollar General Store at the corner of Baldwin County Roads 32 and 9.
Organizers said about 300 people showed up and they raised more than $3,000 for the deputy's family.
Food and refreshments were sold at the event. There was also a silent auction, and donations were collected.
Two benefit accounts have been opened on behalf of Deputy Ward, and Sergeant Curtis Summerlin. Summerlin was also wounded in the Nov. shooting.
