GULF SHORES, Ala. (WALA) - For the folks in this line, Black Friday shopping was a little different than most.
At the Hangout, festival organizers handed out 150 vouchers for $50 tickets a week before they’re on sale for nearly $200.
“The Hangout Festival is worth 50 bucks. It’s the best Black Friday deal around; 50 bands for the regular price of $229 is a great deal, but 50 bucks is a steal," said Steve Poer,
Dozens lined up hours before they even opened to get their hands on a voucher.
Shaun Hagerott said he was hooked after going to the festival last year.
“I’ve been here since 7:30 a. m. So we’re looking at about five hours now. It’ll be worth it though,” Hagerott said.
Cade Brown and Mia Bill came to the festival last year and even managed to get on stage with one of the acts.
People were throwing us over barriers and everybody was screaming. Then we got on stage and everybody was dancing with the guy," said Brown.
Thos who couldn’t line up early to win a free voucher turned out throughout the day to possibly win one in a raffle and donate toys for the Toys for Tots charity.
Folks said all the excitement has them already pumped for the festival.
Anita Poer said she tries to come to the festival every year.
“It’s just wide open and a lot is going on at the festival. We bring our camper down here and camp for the whole weekend. It’s just great fun,” Anita Poer said.
Early bird tickets go on sale Dec. 1 starting at $189.
The Hangout Festival kicks off on May 17.
