BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WALA) - The City of Foley’s 31st Annual Arbor Day celebration will be held on Saturday, Feb. 25, at 10 a.m. in the Foley Civic Center.

Following a brief ceremony, eight varieties of free seedlings that are native to our area will be distributed by local Boy Scout Troop 77. The public is invited to attend and receive free tree seedlings.

The seedlings, compliments of the City of Foley’s Revitalization and Beautification Advisory Board, will be distributed along with information on the care and culture of each of the trees. The varieties selected all grow well in our area and include crepe myrtle, fringe tree, nuttall oak, black gum, live oak, bald cypress, swamp chestnut oak and southern magnolia.

Lillian Fell, former city clerk and city employee for 30 years, will be recognized during the Arbor Day ceremony. A southern magnolia tree has been selected to be planted in her honor.

The Daphne Beautification Committee and the Public Works Department have an exciting Arbor Day Celebration planned for the citizens of Daphne at 8 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, at Daphne Civic Center, in front of the Recreation Department.
